Ivan was a senior man and lived in Warakurna with his family. He was a much-respected leader of the community and was born in the bush near Lapaku. His work depicts secret men’s law associated with the tingari men that travelled all over the Country to meet with the other tingari men for business. All the young and old men camped together at lore time. They camp and continue to meet with more men and the group grows as they move across the associated areas. These processes are governed by strict rules, evidenced in the rigidity of the aesthetic.
