Long Tom tells the story of how he would have to travel over these mountains, (a range at the back of Haasts Bluff) to get to Papunya. In the early days Long Tom liked to travel, not only for the enjoyment of his traditional skills, and exploring his country, but also for his job as a stockman.
In this painting Long Tom includes trees in the painting. The trees and the hills are something of a signature trademark for Long Tom Tjapanangka paintings.
