Jerome has painted the soak country at Ilbili where he was born. Ilbili is in the northern section of Spinifex country and is in a large tract of sandhill country. Permanent water is available here and thus the area is very precious. Jerome has also painted the sites at Irlimutanya and Tjunkaritjara but noted that it’s “all the same, soak country”. Water is held here by Wanampi (Water Snakes) which, although dangerous, can be controlled by the owners of the area and the old people so families can safely come in to drink.
