Evelyn Pultara lives north of Utopia in Wilora with her husband Clem Pultara (also an artist). She is the sister of Greeniy Purvis and niece to the late Emily Kngwarreye. Evelyn and Greeny both paint Bush Yam that are interconnected with their country and are the only two Anmatyerre speakers who are able to paint the Bush Yam in lines depicting the transition of seasons. Evelyn represents her dreaming totem in many different styles, from pictorial representations of the plant’s edible root system to the explosive nature of a germinating yam seed.
