Kungka Kutjara (Two Women) are Creation Ancestors who travelled together through different parts of the artist’s country. They created landforms and customs to be passed on and maintained over subsequent generations. Different stages of their journey are depicted and three times they stop to rest, sitting with their piti and wana – bowl and digging stick.
The women also make Nanpa (hairstring belts) spun from human and animal hair. Nanpa is a traditional body covering.
