This painting depicts a journey of the ancestral budgerigar spirits who travelled from east of Yuendumu across Central Australia during the dreamtime world creation period. They performed ceremonies and various other secret-sacred rituals in which the landscape was created into what it is today. The important ceremonial sites of the Budgerigar ancestors are depicted by the central circle. The ‘x’ shapes are the footprints of the budgerigar as it travels across the landscape.
